After months of hard work and sleepless nights, we finally launched the second version of change.org. I generally try to talk about cool things I am working on; but this was not possible with change.org because there was no time to waste. Every minute counted.
Today we launched the second release of the site, which not only helps you support changes you would like to see in the world. But also find politicians that are willing to support your cause. We spent hours discussing if change politics should be a site of its own, because some of us did not support the idea diverting focus away from the non profits ( at some point I belonged to this camp ) but after careful evaluation we managed to find our own middle path.
One of my favorite features on the new site is the "Click to call". This feature allows you to call a politician's office and tell them why you support a specific cause. This was a trivial but a very time consuming effort for us. The reason I love this feature is because we have now made it easier for you to voice your opinion. And if you do not feel like calling them up you can always send them an email.
The second feature we worked on was the groups. We are constantly trying to simplify and promote discussion, between people who support the same changes. We even redesigned the entire system two times to make it simpler :)
We have also added a few "for fun" features (due to some pressure from the girl). The first being compliments, supporters can now compliment each another on a well written article or just because they think he/she is doing a good job. The second being awards, I will let you figure this one out for yourself. We have a few more tricks up our sleeve, I will try to talk about it in a few days.
As always this would not be possible without constant support from our friends and family.
